Why the founding of the country matters – Summary

founding-fathers“When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them….

Pretty boring stuff, huh. Well, some of the most intelligent and courageous Americans that have ever lived didn’t think so….No, the first paragraph of the Declaration of Independence (DOI) is not the most exciting read, but it is absolutely foundational….

The principles that undergirded the founding of our country are the reason this is the country we love today…. We must know why we want to accomplish something before we can begin the hard work of accomplishing it….

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

With these words, the founders not only separated themselves from their native land, but they stated the principles on which this new country would be founded; life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness….

For all men to be created equal there must be, EGADS, a Creator! ….

So, in reading the DOI (and this is true for many other founding documents) the most core, underlying principle of the founding that has enabled this nation’s success and prosperity is simply the acknowledgement of the existence of God… To read the entire post, click on the link below.
